Boost Your City Helps Support Local Talent And Small Businesses In Windsor
Windsor, Ontario - Boost Your City is excited to announce their first ever event in Windsor, Ontario. The project, in partnership with St Clair College School of Media Art and Design and the Genesis Entrepreneurship & Innovation Centre, was created by Jessica Apolloni and Katie Stokes; two passionate local entrepreneurs. It rallies the community together to help support and promote the small businesses and brilliant ideas that make Windsor come to life.

The first ever Boost Your City event will be held on June 13th & 14th 2015 in Windsor Ontario. The two-day event will take place from 9am-4pm both Saturday June 13th and Sunday June 14th at the St Clair College Centre for the Arts downtown campus. One deserving business will have the opportunity to work with a team of qualified professionals over the course of 2 days and will emerge from the event with a full, comprehensive marketing and promotion package valued at up to $20,000 free of charge.

Part of the team includes junior positions that will be filled with qualified second year St Clair College graphic design, advertising, public relations and marketing students. These students will have the opportunity to work alongside industry professionals in their field of study and will gain valuable real-life working experience they can highlight on their resumes.

"This is just the type of intense, hands-on learning experience our students enjoy! What an amazing opportunity for them to work alongside industry professionals to give one lucky company the marketing edge to help their business succeed," says Lorna McCormack, chair of the School of Media, Art & Design.

The focus is on retaining local talent, connecting recent grads and students with industry professionals and helping small businesses grow and thrive by providing them with free marketing materials, strategies and legal/financial advice that will propel them to the next level. Small businesses who fit the required criteria can apply to be chosen and any industry professionals and students who are willing to dedicate their skills and insight, can apply to be part of the team.

"As part of this project, students will have the opportunity to connect with other entrepreneurs in the community," says Chris Ryan, Director of Entrepreneurship at the Genesis Entrepreneurship Centre. "This project helps small businesses get the support they need to succeed while also showing students that entrepreneurship is a viable and sustainable career path."
