Walk-2-Run Group
Have you never run before but would like to start? Or are you currently able to jog but only in small bursts? The Walk-2-Run Group does exactly what the name says, taking participants from walking to running and completing 5 Km. Participants at the end of the 8 week program may fully jog or use a walk/jog combo to complete the distance, depending on their personal goal.
The program is structured in a walk/run interval style that gradually increases the jogging time and decreases the walking time.
Group sessions are held on Monday's from 6:30-7:30 pm at the HealthPlex.
Each session begins with a 15 minute information session that covers topics such as shoe selection, nutrition, safety and other useful items.
An information session for those interested will be held on Thursday, April 19, 2012 from 6:30-7:00 pm at the HealthPlex. Staff will be available to take registrations, answer questions and provide more information about the program.
The Walk-2-Run Group will start on April 23, 2012.

5Km Run Information
Every participant is invited to take part in the 5Km Walk/Jog at the 1st Annual Father's Day Classic on Sunday, June 17, at the C.M. Wilson Conservation Area in Blenheim. The registration fee for the race is $50.00 and the HealthPlex will collect fees and register participants as a team. Although it may seem like a big commitment to register for a run when just learning to run, having an end goal greatly enhances results, increases motivation and brings an overall greater sense of fun and achievement in the end.
