BACKFLOW RECERTIFICATION

Anyone licensed before January 1, 2005 will be required to re-certify as per AWWA Canadian CCCC Manual #1, 2007: Please note the recent notice from the OWWA:
  • An extension of testers certified prior to 2007 AND those certifying between Jan. 1-Feb. 29, 2007 have been granted until February 29, 2012.
  • Recertification of Testers: Testers certified any time after January 1, 2008 must re-certify within 5 years of the certificate date and will NOT be granted any extensions for recertification.
  • Testers must re-certify within 5 years of the date of certificate issue. St. Clair College will verify each trainee's certification information. Trainees must bring their certificates for the first class.
In this 2 day program, the learner will be reviewed on cross-connections and backflow prevention devices, code changes and new devices on the market. Anyone licensed before January 1, 2005 will be required to re-certify as per AWWA Canadian CCCC Manual #1, 2007. This certification will be for a five year period. This course is limited to 10 trainees only.

  • Trainees may also bring their own testing equipment if desired

BACKFLOW PREVENTION TRAINING

This course is designed to train the plumber, pipe-fitter, or apprentice in the proper installation and testing procedures of required backflow prevention devices according to C.S.A. B 64-10 regulations and O.W.W.A. This course combines theoretical understanding of the operation, as well as hands-on testing and repair of the devices. Areas of Study: Legal Aspects and Codes, Causes of Backflow, Backflow Devices (Installation, Function, Application, Premise Location), Maintenance Procedures, Device Repair, Testing Procedures, Equipment Verification, Air Gap, Atmosphere Vacuum, Breaker, Double Check Valve, Assembly, Reduced Pressure Principle, and Backflow Preventer. Course 5 days, 40 hrs; Tuition fee: $1,836.47, ($1,542.67 tuition, $260 materials + $33.80 hst). Includes certification fees & manuals.
