CAMP DESCRIPTIONS

ART ADVENTURE (ages 7-13)
YOUTH 204
Are you an artist? Do you want to be? Get ready for plenty of art fun. Do you like to paint? We’ve got some great painting projects that’ll make you smile. Do you enjoy sketching or colorizing with arts pencils? Amaze yourself at how expertly you can create and texture shapes. Plus we’ll sculpt with plastic clay, create ‘found art’ with natural objects, and build spatial art. For your best camp ever, get 1 or 2 friends to sign up with you.

AVIATION CAMP (ages 7-13)
YOUTH 285
Would you like to be a pilot someday? Want to know what it’s like to fly a plane without leaving the ground? Come join us for a week of Aviation adventure. Whether this is your first or fifth time at Aviation Camp, there’s always something new. Besides lots of computer flying and simulated flight challenges, there’s aircraft model building, glider competitions, weather and navigation basics, and for extra fun, good old Herbie the Helicopter. See you there!

GIRLZONE CAMP (ages 7-13)
YOUTH 288
Is sports & fitness your thing? Or are you a fan of arts & crafts? What if you like both? If that’s true, GirlZone is the camp for you. Half sports & fitness, half arts & crafts, this new camp brings you the best of both. With specially-trained instructors and activities including an intro to Pilates, making jewellery, designing giftcards and building mobiles, you and your friends will have a ball at GirlZone.

LEGO ROBOTICS (ages 8-13)
YOUTH 196
If you think Lego is just a nifty building toy for kids, think again. In this creative hands-on environment, young inventors use the Lego Mindstorms Robotic System to build robots with motors and sensors and missions the children decide to program them to carry out. Campers develop self-confidence, creativity, technical and problem-solving skill.

LEGO ROBOTICS JUNIOR CAMP (ages 7-10)
YOUTH 287
This is an introductory-level camp providing the same fascinating robotic experience as the Lego Robotics Camp for ages 8-13, with the difference that enrollment numbers are slightly less so there is more personal attention per camper by the Instructor-Facilitator team. Robotic building and operating challenges are therefore marginally easier, allowing junior campers to take additional time developing confidence and expertise..

MAGIC CAMP (ages 7-13)
YOUTH 269
Grab your wand and get set to learn some cool magic tricks. Don’t have a wand? No problem - we make wands our first day. You’ll meet new friends and learn great ways to add fun to everything you do. This camp ends with an Open House Magic Show for families and friends. Special skills you’ll explore include vanishing, teleportation and levitation. Make sure your parents know that at this camp, magic is for fun and entertainment only.

SOCCER STARS JUNIOR CAMP (ages 7-10)
YOUTH 170
Soccer is a favourite sport and very important to many Chatham-Kent youngsters. Soccer Stars Junior Camp is a non-competitive environment where each young soccer player gets the help and encouragement they need to discover and develop their own soccer skills. Daily routines include pre-game stretching, rules of the game, how to play positions, individual techniques and team strategies, plus positive demonstrations and practice in how to be a good sport.

YOUNG WRITERS CAMP (ages 8-13)
YOUTH 237
If you like reading and writing, this is the camp for you. Invent a new superhero, design trading cards, be the main character in your own short story, create a silly poem then turn it into a poster. Each day also features a hands-on computer writing workshop. Author Patrick Douglas shares lots of tips and techniques for writing success, ideas for staying organized, strategies for self-publishing, and plenty of materials to keep you writing after camp is finished. The final day has an Open House Writing Exhibit for families and friends. Give your writing career a jump-start - sign up for Young Writers Camp today.
