Blackboard Support for Students Back
Getting Started:

In order to access Blackboard, you will need to have a Blackboard account that includes a valid username and password. Blackboard accounts are issued only for students who are registered in courses that are currently offered in Blackboard. You will be able to access Blackboard by using the letter "W" followed by your seven digit Student Number as your username. If this is your first time in Blackboard, or if you had previously used a different username, then for your password, you should use your birthdate in the format of YYYYMMDD.

For instance, a Student with the Student Number of 1234567 whose birthdate was April 1st 1986 would use:

Username: W1234567
Password: 19860401

Please note that your College-issued username as per above is the only one that you should be using.

If you have difficulty logging in with your username and password as indicated above, or if you do not remember your password, please contact the Support Desk at 519-972-2727 ext 2500 or in person at Room SC172 and they will be able to help.

For Students who are officially registered after their term start date, access for Blackboard will take effect the following business day after their registration.

You may log onto Blackboard by pointing your Internet Browser to the following URL.

Personal Information:

Upon logging into Blackboard for the first time, the first thing you are STRONGLY advised to do is to change your password in order to ensure the privacy of your personal information. You may do this by clicking the "Personal Information" link that is located on the "My Institution" page. The "My Institution" page is the first page at which you arrive upon logging into Blackboard. After clicking "Personal Information", the next page at which you will arrive will have a link called "Change Password" and you should now click on that link. Within the "Password" and "Verify Password" fields, enter a new password that is 8 characters in length or longer, then click SUBMIT, then click OK. As is the case with any secured computer environment, you should use a password that will not be obvious to others. If you think that you might forget your password, you should make note of it and then store it in a safe spot away from any other hard copy Blackboard documentation that you may have on hand.

Email Addresses:
Whether you are new to Blackboard, or have used it previously, you should ensure that your e-mail address is correct by clicking the "Edit Personal Information" link. You will not be able to send or receive messages from within the Communications portion of your Blackboard course if you do not have a valid e-mail address. The e-mail address that you should use is the one that was issued to you by St.Clair College. You may also enter any additional personal information that you feel will be necessary or appropriate for others to see.

Course Availability:

You will see a hyperlink for each Blackboard course in which you are enrolled from your "Courses" tab immediately after each course has been made available to you and your fellow classmates. For Students who are officially registered after their term start date, access for Blackboard courses will take effect the following business day after their registration...If your course is still not available after that time, please contact your Instructor.

Logout Procedure:

When you are about to exit a Blackboard session, always ensure that you properly log out by clicking the Logout button located near the top centre of your Internet browser window.

Failure to do so does not constitute a successful end to your Blackboard session and could result in another Student gaining access to your personal information.

For additional assistance please contact the Support Desk by phone at 519-972-2727 ext 2500 or in person at South Campus Room SC172.
